INDUCTION OF NEW VICAR
The induction of (lie Rev. R. ITailey Trill, who has succeeded the Rev. W. G. Monckton as vicar of St. Peter's Church, Takapuna, was performed at the morning service yesterday hy Archbishop Averill, who had in attendance with him Archdeacon W. J. Sinikin, Canon F. W. Young and the Rev. S. C. Borrow. Jhe visiting clergy and the choir were met at the door of the church hy Mr. li. C. Culten, vicar's warden, Mr. .T. W. Williamson, people's warden, and members of the vestry, and escorted lo the chancel. There was a very large congregation._ In his address Archbishop Averill said it was appropriate that the institution of the new vicar coincided with the Sunday heralding the season of Lent, a season of new opportunities and new resolves, lie stressed the vital importance of clarity of vision, motive, and the spirit of love in Church life, and the danger of stagnation through slackness. He confidently appealed to parishioners to put into practice the high ideals impressed upon them by their former vicar and 11ms perpetuate Mr. Monckton s great work, for which he returned grateful thanks. It. was a difficult task for the new vicar, who had a record of splendid work among the young people.
