POPULARITY OF BEACHES.

TRANSPORT SERVICES BUSY* ANOTHER FINE WEEK-END. Excellent summer weather prevailed in Auckland during the week-end and sports and holiday activities progressed under ideal conditions. The sky was somewhat clouded on Saturday, but brilliant sunsliiiio was experienced yesterday. Many yachting and picnic parties were undertaken, a large number of pleasure craft going to Kawau Island. Transport services to the North Shore bays and beaches on the city side of the Waitemata Harbour were kept busy, and the Manukau Harbour attracted largo numbers of bathers. The railways conveyed a great many people on holiday excursions. About 900 travelled from Auckland to Pukekohc to attend the Otahuhu railway workshops employees' picnic, and about 300 travelled by train fioin Henderson to tho samo outing. The Sunday excursion from Auckland to ' Hamilton attracted nearly 370 people, and a railway excursion from Wnihi to Auckland, organised by the friendly societies of To Aioha, also was heavily patronised.
