ONEHUNGA EX-SOLDIERS.

RESULT OF PUBLIC APPEAL. The second annual appeal made by the Onehunga Ex-Sorvicemen's Club for the relief of unemployment among members of the organisation was held on Friday, the appeal taking the form of a flag day and a gala night. During the day women helpers were engaged in selling flags, and m the ■evening a variety entertainment was held. Tiio Onehunga Citizens' Band, a Maori concert party and two jazz orchestras gave performance;, at street corners. A display was giveit, by the Onehunga lire brigade, and there was also dancing on the green, a confetti battle, and a mock court, for which the Legion of Frontiersmen acted as bodyguard and court oiricials. A total of ,£6O was raised. Last year the appeal produced 1180. which, with the addition of subsidies from the Borough Council and the Government, made a. total of £460. This amount was used to give employment to the ex-soldiers of the borough for nix weeks.
