VOLUNTEERS FOR CHINA.
ANTICIPATING A WAR.
AUCKLANDERS LOOKING AHEAD. Susceptibility to war fever apparently is not confined to one nation or one sex. Within the past week volunteers of both sexes have approached the Auckland headquarters of the Defence Department and offered themselves for service in China. One, an ex-Imperial Army officer, requested that if possible a cablegram be sent to the British Army authorities on his behalf saying that he was available to serve should Britain be involved in the Sino-Japanese conflict. Another volunteer was a nurse, who called at the office and expressed a willingness to go to China the moment a demand for nurses arose.
