Miss Dorothy Tanner, of Wellington, is visiting Auckland and is staying at Arundel. Miss P. T. Dwyer, of Dunedin, is visiting Auckland and is staying at the Central Hotel. Mrs. W. 11. Harbor, of Leeds, England, is visiting Auckland and is at the Central Hotel. Mrs. 1. do la lloche, of Onehunga, returned yesterday morning from a visit to Christchurcli. Miss Jean Fee, of Mountain Road, Epsom, left tliis week on a visit to Palmerston North. Mrs. 11. M. Kogcrson, of Epsom Avenue, has returned from a visit to Sydney and Melbourne. Miss Beatrice Park, who was the guest of Mrs. R. A. Laurenson, of Auckland, has returned to Riccarton. Mr. and Mrs. Heath Freest, oE Tahora Avenue, Remuera, who have been visiting Lake Rotoiti, are now at The Mount, Tauranga. Airs. Normnn Smith, of Sydney, and Miss A. Lcvick, of Christehnrch, arc visiting Auckland and are staying at the Central Hotel. Mrs. C. Collieck, of Christchurcli, is visiting Auckland and is the guest of her mother, Mrs. A. M. Ferguson, Victoria Avenue, Remuera. Miss S. Marshall and Miss B. Marshall, of Drumore, Wigtownshire, Scotland, who have been visiting the Dominion, left yesterday by tho Ulimaroa on their return journey. Tho Ngahape branch of the League of Mothers held a large and most successful picnic, which took placo 011 Anniversary Day beside tho Mangaorongo Stream. Swimming, games and races were enjoyed A vote of thanks was accorded to the members of tho Ngahape branch. Grateful memory is deserved by the lato Miss Ethel McCaul. whose funeral took place recently at Woking following her death at the ago of 64. Struck by the lonely plight of warriors passing through London, on their return from the South African War, Miss McCaul set herself to secure a suitable rendezvous for these men, and the result was the Union Jack Club in Waterloo Road, opened in 1907. Tho members of the Ladies' Harbour Lights Guild entertained 011 Thursday evening a largo number of seamen at the Flying Angel Mission. The overseas ships were represented, including a number of men from tlie sailing ship Grace Harwar. Members of the girls' branch were also present. Music was supplied by members of the s.s. Remuera's orchestra. The hostesses were Mrs. Preston Chambers and Mrs. W. J. Coutts. A pleasant afternoon was held recently on tho lawns of the Rocky Nook Croquet Club, when a reunion of old members was held. The guests were welcomed by the "president, Mrs. Matthews. Progressive croquet was played, the prize-winners being Mrs. Maiden (A), Mrs. Wyles (B). Mrs. Tudehope and Mrs. Pratt. Afternoon tea was served in the pavilion, at the conclusion of which Mrs. Chambers, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the club for their hospitality.
