VALUELESS BONDS.
MONEY FOR BUTCHER'S SHOP. TWO MEN CONVICTED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Friday. Pleas of guilty were made by Keith Elford Craig and George Sim Mouat, before Mr. E. Page, S.M., to-day, on joint charges of stealing two sums of £2O. Craig was also charged with a third offence of stealing £2O. ' A detective stated that the two ' accused started a butchery business at i Petone. They advertised for an assistant, and secured a £2O bond from one Olsen, and further sums of the same amount were obtained from two other ' men. Craig was the primo mover. Ho 1 took all the money, and the three men who advanced the bonds got nothing. Craig, who had two previous convictions for false pretences and theft, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment. Mouat was admitted to probation for two years and ordered to refund £4O.
