DAY IN FAR NORTH.
MOTORING ALONG BEACH. FISHING AND SHOOTING. fr>v telegraph. —own cor respondent. ] KAITAIA, Thursday. Several points of interest ill the Far North were visited to-day by the Gov-ernor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and the Lady Bledisloe, who in addition to covering a very large portion of the district were afforded opportunities to sample the sporting attractions available with marked success. Their Excellencies left the Wai pa pakauri Hotel, where they had spent the previous night, at 8.30 a.m., and accompanied by Mr. J. Mostyn, business manager for Mr. Norman Smith, and Mr. Mcta l'arakene, a veteran Maori chief, inspected Mr. Smith's car, the Stewart Enterprise, at the garage at Hukatere. His Excellency showed a great interest in the car, the various features of which were pointed out by Mr. Mostyn. After leaving Hukatere Their Excellencies proceeded up tho beach to To Paki station, where they wero received by the manager, Mr. K. Richardson, and met Sir George Fowlds and a party of friends and also Mr. 11. It. Jenkins. They continued their drive northward to Pandora, where the party had luncheon on the beach.
On (lie return joiinioy in (ho afternoon to Waipapakauri, tlie party stopped at the Bluff, on the Ninety-Mile Beach, where Their Excellencies indulged in fishing from the locks with great success. The Lady Bledisloe caught a large schnapper among a number of other fish. Further down the beach His Excellency shot a number of godwits from the car, while at Hukatero the party enjoyed netting for flounder and mullet.
To-morrow Their Excellencies will visit the Hon. V. H. Reed's property at Puketoto and will then return to l'ailiia through Mangonui and Whangaroa.
