The wind throughout was moderate and northerly, with a rough sea. The result was an easy win for the Christchurch crew, due entirely to mishaps to the Parcinata and Lyttelton boats. Paremata capsized when leading in the second round, and the Lyttelton boat lost its mast. The finishing limes were:—Christchurch, lh 44m lis; Plimmerton, Hi 52m ; Auckland, lli 52in 595; Otago, lh 55m 17s; Wellington, lh 59m 30s. Pliinmerton won the fifth race. The contest was not as interesting as "the morning event, as the wind had lessened considerably. Pliinmerton drew out early in the race and, once having established a lead, maintained it and went on to win by 4m 35s from Auckland. Porirua and Christchurch retired through having fouled buoys, and Manukau could not continue racing through the boat leaking. The finishing times were:—Plimmerton, 6h 28m 30s; Auckland, 6h 33in ss; Lyttelton, 6h 54m 2s; Otago, 6h 34m 51s; Wellington, 6li 49m. Porirua has won two races, Christchurch one, Lyttelton one and Plimmerton one.
