Dr. Agnes Bennett, of Wellington, returned lo Xew Zealand by the Marania this wppk after a 10 months' trip to England and Scotland. Dr. Bennett visited obstetrical hospitals and institutions and

Miss B. Lecgo. of Nelson, late of Silkeborg Institute, Denmark, has been appointed physical instructress and dancing mistress at the Waikato Diocesan Schoui for Girls, Hamilton. Miss Leggo was educated at Net sen College and later proceeded to Denmark to specialise in physical training and dancing.

Evening classes in which woodwork is taueht to women are becoming jocreasit gly popular in many parts of North Wales. At Colwyn Bay and other centres, special classes for •wronaen only have been instituted, and they are often better patronised than the classes reserved for men. It. appears that men's interest in this form oi occupation is waning while women find it much more entertaining than sewing or knitting.

Miss Annette "Wynyard. of Epsom, was hostess recently at a combined farewell morning tea given at her home in honour of Miss Mona Bur gin, ox Sydney, Miss Lusk, Miss Joan Neill, Miss Freda Knight and Miss Kitty Mayscr, who will leave to-day to attend the Empire festivities of the 21st anniversary of Girl Guiding to be held at Albert Hall, London. The officers, non-commissioned officers jwd men of "C" Squadi'on, Machine Guns and Signallers No. 1 Troop, held a successful dance in the Parochial Hall, Whangarei on Wednesday night. The hali was decorated with coloured streamers. Mr. C. Wright's dance band supplied excellent music, and an extra was rendered by Miss Alma Maekay. Novelty dances were won by Miss Bracey-Mills and Mr. Peterson and Miss Thompson and Mr. Symc. Major H. Carrulh. Major D. T. Woods, Captain H. M. Foster, Captain N. C.
