Callapat, Moerangi and Airtight tt the last fence in the Okaiawa Hurdles and 'etained the lead to win by a length from tbe favourite. Blacksmith, whose jumping faulty C'allajjat, Moerarigi and Coppy tere only heads behind Blacksmith. Chief Marionette won the Electric Han- ; dicap very gamely under punishment for •he had to make up three lengths on Hamp- j • in the ]aht hundred yards, which sbn i did to win by half a head. Arvada /won the Meremere Hack Handicap like a good one. The Tiger set a fast P ace - but Arvada was up handy at the notne turn with Moatoa, Barbacan and Orby's Choice. Once in line Arvnda Quickly wore down The Tiser to win by a couple of lengths, with a similar distance nack to Bnrbncan and Royal Finance, with Orby's Choice handy. Royo 1 Finance was sore after the race, ohrewd continues to race unluckily, Ho 'fldeavoured to win the Tonks' Stakes 11 >ne way, but. in tilt* very last stride Silver®me got his head in front.
