THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. FAIR VOLUME OF BUSINESS. There was a fair volume of business on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Interest in Government securities was firm and buyers predominated on the market. Bonds, 1936, per cent,, were released 7s 6d easier than on Tuesday in dealing at £99 10s. A decline of 5s was shown by the 1937, 5i per cent., bonds, which had sale at £99 15s. Inscribed Stock, 1938, per cent., made current rates in two transactions at £95, while the 1937 issue of 5£ per cents, was done 5s easier at £99 12s 6d. In banks the .buying strength was still weak, except for New Zealands, which were done at 455, the first time this price has been paid in Auckland in the new year. More were sought at 44a 9d. Commercials were released at 14s 7d, while more were available at 14s 9d. In insurance New Zealands were available at 40s 6d and South British at 53s 9d, but neither issue attracted buyers. Late dealing on Wednesday in New Zealand and River Plates was recorded at 21s, an advance of a shilling on the last Auckland sale in October. New Zealand Breweries were done 3d easier at 25s 3d, while late dealing on Wednesday in this stock was recorded at the previous rate of 25s 6d. Conditions showed little change in the miscellaneous market and business was quiet. Farmers' Trading Company were done at the current rate of 5s 6d, more being sought at 5s 4d. Late rates were also made by Wilsons Cementa, which were done again at 325. In mining an advance of a penny vr&s shown by Golden Dawns, which sold at 7s 9cL King Solomons had sale twice at the current rate of 2s.
