OLD MAN ATTACKED.

STRUCK WITH PEA-RIFLE.

KNOCKED DOWN AND KICKED

An attempt to rob an elderly man, Mr. A. Drought, who keeps a small grocer's shop at Opawa Road, was made by two youths to-night. Two young men came to bis house near tho shop and asked him for a box of matches. When Mr. Drought, who lives alone, went to the shop for the matches, one of the youths hid in the wash-house and when Mr. Drought returned the youth struck him on the head with a pea-rifle, knocked him down and kicked him.

Mr. Drought called for help. A passer-by came to his assistance and caught and held the youth who had struck Mr. Drought. He was arrested, but the other youth escaped. The rifle was found to be loaded.
