Vincent last evening:— The depression of combined tropical and westerly low pressure influences lias moved on to the Dominion from the Tasman Sea, and is centred in the south. Expect cloudy and unsettled weather, with rain generally. Warm and humid conditions, becoming cooler after about lo hours. Thunder probable in places ! near the west coast. Northerly to northwesterly winds, moderate to strong, freshening, and backing temporarily to south-west. Seas rough. Local outlook: Squally, with heavy showers, followed by a temporary improvement in conditions. Barometer, midnight, steady .. 29.85 in. Midnight. Tuesday .. .. 29.95 in. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —An extensive depression is moving on to the Dominion, but barometers are commencing to rise <igain in the south-west. Indications are for moderate to strong northerly to northwest winds at first-, except in the far south, where a change to soutberlies will gradually become and extend over the, rest of the country during tomorrow. Seas moderate north of Cape Egmont and East Cape, elsewhere rather rough. Strong northerlies prevailing at first in the eastern Tasman Sea, but a change to soutberlies is advancing from the west. The weather will be dull and in places misty or foggy, rain becoming almost general, with some heavy falls and thunder in places. RAINFALL RECORD.
