RECEPTION AND DANCE.
MISS JAMES' TOUR. A recaption in honour of Miss Esther James, of Auckland, who arrived in the city yesterday after having completed onestage of her journey from Spirits Bay to the Bluff, in the interests of New Zealandmade goods, was given in the Peter Pan Cabaret last evening by her sister, Mrs. D. Hansen. The cabaret was charmingly decorated with vases of summer flowers, while the shaded lights giving a twilight effect during some of the dances made the scene on the dance floor most attractive. Excellent music was provided by the cabaret band. To receive her guests Mrs. Hansen wore a frock of white satin beaute flared at the back to form a train effect. Miss James, in pursuance of her policy of wearing only New Zealand-made clothing, was in a shell-pink evening frock of Canterbury locknit, with a deep berthe collar and pannier effect at the Waistline composed of two deep flared frills. Her shoes and stockings were also Dominionmanufactured articles. Among those present were: —Miss Alma Cole, who woro a frock of ivory satin lightly embroidered with white beads; Miss Eileen Forde, in cameo-pink georgette; Miss Zilla James, ivory frilled net; Miss V. McCarthny, gold satin, with a gold lame coatee; Miss B. Paltridge, applegreen satin, with an embossed chenille georgette coatee; Miss L. Christie, shellpink georgette; Miss Ena Lester, daffodil flat crepe, with a scarlet shoulder spray; Mrs. L. Fisher (Rotorua), primrose floral georgette inlet with frilled panels; Miss Marjorie Innes, nattier blue floral chiffon; Miss Kathleen McLean (Invercargill), almond-green georgette ornamented with motifs of gold lace.
