The conference is specially important for some young student, all on account of the scholarship offered to New Zealand this year for the first time by the Barnard College, attached to Columbia University, New York. It carries one year's free tuition for the girl "undergrad'' who is selected by the New Zealand Federation, .and conference time will see the final choice of that fortunate young person. And quite apart from educational values, lest tlio mental vision of a stranger in a strange land in between terms should appear a depressing one, the Dominion Federation has already communicated with its sister association in New York, which has earned the generous title of " hospitality committee" from tho American association, requesting that the vacation times of the student who eventually 'fares forth should also be regarded as its responsibility.
