COMMERCIAL OF SYDNEY. INTERIM OF 3 PER CENT. (Received January 20, 11.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 20. The Commercial Banking Company of Sydney lias announced an interim divi- - dend of 3 per cent. Tile interim dividend last year was 4|pcr cent, and tlio final dividend 4 per cent., making per cent., as against 10 per cent, in I lie previous year. The bank has a capital of £4,709,000 and a reserve fund of £4,300,000. DEMAND FOR WOOL. GOOD SALES IN SYDNEY. GREASY MERINO MAKES 23 £d. (Received January 20, 0.23 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 20. At the wool sales to-day 10,655 bales were offered and P875 sold, also 468 were sold privately. All the best features dominated to-day's auctions, a pleasing aspect being' special inquiry for all fino to superfine wools on German, French, and Yorkshire account. LONDON AND LIVERPOOL. LONDON, Jan. 19. Wheat cargoes were firm, with sellers 3d to 6d higher, but closed dull. Wheat. —March, 57£ cents per bushel; May, 59§ cents; July, 58f cents; September, 60 cents. The New York quotation for each is 72£ cents. BIRKENHEAD GAS.. DIVIDEND OF 4 PER CENT. A net profit of £1125 was earned by. the Birkenhead and Northeote Gas Company, Limited, for the year ended October 31, 1931. . The sum of £2375 was brought forward from the 'previous year, making £3500 available for distribution. A dividend of 4 per cent, has been paid on the ordinary shares and (lie usual 7 and 8 per cent, on preference shares respectively. Last year the company earned £1309 and paid 5 per cent, on ordinary shares. _ «
