MOTOR-LORRY TAKEN.
FOUND IN DAMAGED STATE. TWO MEN SENT TO PRISON. [from our own correspondent.l HAMILTON, "Wednesday. The removal of a motor-lorry, valued at. £195, the property of Mr. John Matson, of Kawhia, from Collingwood Street, Hamilton, on January 8, resulted in Wilfred Haddon Putland, aged 24, and Frank Thomas Delderfield, aged 21, being charged in the Hamilton Magistrate Court to-day with unlawfully converting the vehicle to their own use. Senior-Sergeant Sweeney said the accused took the lorry from where the owner had parked it in Hamilton and were driving it to Rotorua when it went over a bank at Karapiro. Damaga to the extent of £45 was done to the vehicle, and several articles left in it were missing. Both accused had previous convictions for various offences. Both accused were sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
