BUSH FIRES RAGING.
DAMAGE IN AUSTRALIA. LIVESTOCK BURNED. SYDNEY. Dec. 20. Bvisi i lires continue in the Wagga Wagga district, New South Wales, and threaten further areas in which there is rank grass adjoining ripening wheat. This is in grave danger, in spite of the strenuous efforts of large bodies of men to cope with the flames. Other districts are suffering similarly owing Lo dry weather. One hundred horses on Stirling llill became panic-stricken when grass fires surrounded their enclosure. The police and the station manager cut fences to release I hem. ]n South Australia the township of Woodside, which is in hilly country, was endangered by bush lires, but, a fortunate change in' the direction of the v.ind averted disaster. A good deal of damage has been done in various places and numbers of livestock liavo been burned.
