ASSAULT ON CONSUL.
BRISBANE ANTI-FASCISTS. SIGNOR MELANO RESCUED. BRISBANE, Dec. 20. Signer Melano, Italian Consul in Brisbane, visited the town of Ingham on Christmas Day and Saturday. He was assaulted by several Italians, who are. alleged to have been anti-Fascists. The Consul bad been visiting the hospital. The attackers were beaten off by other men, but. they took Signor Melano's badge. A second demonstration occurred in the evening when the Consul was struck by glass which was thrown at him. Voices in the crowd shouted, " Kill him! " The police cleared the street, and arrested a man.
