CONDITIONS IN THE SOUTH. Auckland.—There was a continuation of fine weather yesterday, but tho sky waS cloudy and threatening "in the morning, the wind being light and variable. Wellington. Sunshine and passing clouds made pleasant weather yesterday. There was a strong wind from the north. Cliristchurch.—The weather was sultry» the. maximum temperature in ihe s "° heing the highest this summer ,and i n shade was 79 degrees. The wind varied Irom soutW-west to north-east. The b ar " ometer dropped six points to 29.80 in. ~~ Dunedin.—There was continuation ® fine, sunny weather yesterday morning but the sky was overcast in the a " er * noon. A light breeze from the south-esJ was blowing. The barometer was steiuf at 29.85 in.
