CAPTAIN COOK'S SHIP.

PAINTING OF ENDEAVOUR. frnOM our. own correspondent.] LONDON. Nov. 24. A new painting of some interest is now fo be scon in the library of the High Commissioner's Department. This represents 11.M.5. Endeavour (368 tons) under the command of Captain Cook entering Botany Bay on Sunday, April 29, 1778. It. is a i;ood painting bv hu Australian artist, Mr. John Allcoi, but the particular interest lies in the fact, that there is no haphazard work in regard to tho reproduction of the ship. All available documents and tho Admiralty plans were studied in order to get, as near as possible to" tho actual appearance of the little ship. The painting lias been lent to Ihe High Commissioner by Mr. 1). Hope-Johnston, uf Wellington and Sydney.
