UNTIMELY CAROLS.
Sir, —I would like to support "Direct Action" in his protest against what he rightly calls untimely carols. I also have been awakened in the very early hours of Christmas morning for years by "carols," though this Christmas the noise began much later and dir] not last long. It is very inconsiderate of this section of the Salvation Army to waken tired sleepers. Why can they not wait until the householders are up? I understand the Army has a good band, and yet. the. small groilps that tour the suburbs appear to be made up of members who seem only able to produce discordant noises rather than music, in spite of the years of practice inflicted upon patient suburbanites. I have a respect for Major Gordon and feel that, her branch of the Army is deserving of every support, and if the. musical members of the Army would walk on their tours around Auckland instead of using a car they would have more cash to help carry on the work, for a car, as every one knows, cannot bo-run for nothing. Suburban.
