DIVINE GUIDANCE.

Sir, —Tho long letter of " Civis" on above in your Saturday's issue will stir a sympathetic chord in the hearts of many of your readers. I have no doubt but that the Prime Minister and tho leaders of Reform and Labour, in their heart of hearts, realise their irapotcncy apart from " the help which God supplies," but it would be becoming in us as a Christian nation —besides setting our children a good example—if our statesmen occasionally made public ack nowledgment of their faith in and dependanco upon God. Another phase of this most important matter is worth mentioning. It would be refreshing to hear in this time of crisis in our national affairs the Primo Minister ask not only for the votes of tho people, but for their prayers also, in public and private, for as you so aptly quoted in a sub-leader some months ago: "More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of." Was Tennyson right? J.J.D.
