TWO MEN SHOT DEAD.
ASSAULTS ON WIVES NEW SOUTH WALES CASES. (Received October 13. 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. IS. The husbands of two women in different parts of New South Wales were killed yesterday in similar circumstances. Walter Peddell, aged 50, was shot dead while he was violently assaulting his wife at Gunnedah. The police have ascertained that Peddell's son attempted to protect his mother, and a pea-rifle was fired during the altercation. In the other instance, at Surry Ilills, the victim was George lumari, agerl 33, who, while attacking his wife, was fatally shot with a revolver by a man who heard Mrs. Inman's screams. He went to her assistance, and it is alleged that after a terrific struggle lie was compelled to use the revolver for his own protection.
