YACHTING.
AKARANA CLUB'S YEAR. In spite of the general depression the past season had been a successful one, according tin the report to be presented at the annual meeting of the Akaram; Yacht Club this evening- The report states tho erection of new skidways in Mechanics' Bay and the painting of the clubhouse hud entailed heavy expenditure, but even allowing for this, the club would show a credit balance on the year's working. An outstanding feature of the past season was the number of overseas yachts that had visited Auckland, ineluding the Teddy from Norway, the Oimara from Melbourne, nnd the Northern Light from America. All had claimed the club's attention. The providing of the by the club for the transtasman race was a gratifying feature of the past year. A valuable trophy, the Balolovic Cup, had been donated to the club by Mr. nnd Mrs. Balokovio, of the schooner Northern Light, and would be competed for this season by A nnd B class boats. Four alternative courses for tho raco had been drawn up by Captain H. 11. Sergeant. During the season five days were devoted to racing, nnd while tho entries totalled only 206, compared with 253 the previous season, the standard of •acing was excellent. Due to the efforts of the. club, boat owners were granted permission to haul .out ia Judge's Bay during: the winter months.
