NUT GRASS.

Sir, —In your notes on the efforts being made to kill the above grass growing on the puhlic footpaths, the statement is made that the surface of the path is to be broken up to allow the weedkiller to do its work effectively. This seems to mo an unnecessary proceeding, and likely to inconvenience the public. [ would suggest that an iron bar, unsharpened. of Jin. diameter, be used. This being driven through the asphalt 4in. deep, would consolidate the bottom of the hole, which should then be filled with a stxonpj liquid weed-killer, twice the first day, and once the next. The holes should then be at once filled up with sand impregnated with weed-killer. Probably the holes would need to be from 4in. to Sin. apart, according to the density of the grass. In Parnell Park there are by-paths almost covered with the grass, where experiments could bo carried out at the least public inconvenience. F. Fuller.*
