ATHENIAN CLUB.

The committee of the Athenian Club under the managment of Mr. and Mrs. J. Haydon was responsible for a very enjoyable evening on Saturday at the Amateur Operatic Society's hall. 'Dancing to Mr. C. Mason's Internationals Orchestra was interspersed with bright items, including a novelty sketch, " Three Black Jacks"; an eccentric dance bv Mr. J. Smith, with a pierrot chorus; an animal dance sketch by Messrs. Fred Burke and Smith; "A Novelty Parade," Mrs. W. Wright, Mrs. H. Clark, Mrs. J. Babbington and Miss N. Wright; Spanish duo, Miss Clare Scale and Mr. Smith; and a Highland dance by Miss Nouall, supported bv male members in Highland costume. The stage was brightly decorated to represent a Spanish loggia with trellis and creeping roses, through which was caught a glimpse of blue sea and skies.
