OBITUARY.

MRS. E. E. TAYLOR. The death occurred on Saturday night of Mrs. Eliza Rebecca Taylor, of 147, Parnell Road, at the age of 93 years. Born at Kingsclare, Hampshire, Mrs. Taylor came to New Zealand in 1861 on the ship Dlack Eagle and had lived in Auckland ever since. Mrs. Taylor always took a keen interest in music and was for 3(3 years a member of the Auckland Choral Society, being a solo singer. Her husband, who died 26 years ago, was for many years connected with Firth's flourmili. Mrs. Taylor's surviving family consists of three daughters and two sons. They are Mrs. T. It. Spraggon, of Devonport; Mrs. George Robinson, of Remuera; Mrs. F. If. Leonard, of I'apatoetoe; Mr. 11. B. Taylor, of Auckland; and Mr. L. J. Taylor, of Christchurch. Mrs. R, C. Carr, of Victoria Avenue; Mrs. C. Barnett, of Wanganui; and Lady Cooper, of Remuera, widow of the late Sir Theophilus Cooper, a former Judge of the Supreme Court, are Mrs. Taylor's sisters. MR. T. H. lIARLEV. Mr. Thomas Halstead Harloy, whose death occurred at Wellington last Thursday, at the age of 86 years, was for many years a well-known hopgrower and brewer in Nelson. Ho took an active part in civic affairs, being a member of the Nelson City Council for fourteen years. As a sportsman he was known throughout New Zealand, for many good horses belonged to his stable, including Black Rose, which won the New Zealand Derby in 1885. A pastime which appealed to him was boating, and his steam packet, HMS Pinafore, was well known. Ine passing of Mr. 'Harley, who was a son of one of the earliest Nelson settlers, leaves only two surviving original pupils of Nelson College who attended on the first day the school was open over 75 years ago. " Mr. Harley married Miss Isabel Green, daughter of the late .Edward Green, of The Sands, Tahuna in 1866, and had he lived they, would have celebrated their pearl wedding yesterday. Mr. Harley leaves a widow and four sons and six daughters.
