PRINTING THE RECORDS.
DISPUTE WITH EXPLORER. SEQUEL TO LONG DELAY. By Telegraph —Press Association—Copyright.. (Received September '25. 8.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 25. After having spent E6SCO of public money in printing the records of the Australian Antarctic Expedition of 1912-1914, under an agreement with Sir Douglas Mawson, the New South Wales Government has decided, says the Sun. to £0 no further with the project. Indeed, the Government is seeking a legal opinion on the point whether it can recover from Sir Douglas certain assets, including instruments and marine specimens. Government officials blamed Sir Douglas and contended that he had not fulfilled his part of the bargain. Sir Douglas replied that the slow rate of publication had discouraged contributors, while the recent expedition delayed the preparation of the records ot some sections. Sir Douglas submits that there are serious misunderstandings, and adds: 'T have been heartbroken by the delays and difficulties caused by the Government Printing Office."
