ECLIPSE OF THE MOON.
PHENOMENON TO-MORROW.
OBSERVATION IN AUCKLAND. The total eclipse of the moon which will occur to-morrow morning will be partially visible in New Zealand, the moon setting during the course of the eclipse. The moon will enter the earth's penumbral shadow at 4.10 a.m. The eclipse will not be visible to the naked eye, however, until at 5.24 a.m., when the first contact with the earth's true shadow will occur. At that time the moon will be low in the western sky. Twenty-five minutes later, at 5.49 a.m., the moon will set as seen from Auckland, thus putting an end to the eclipse as a spectacle. With the moon below the horizon, totality begins at 6.35 a.m., and continues for 111. 25m., the last stage of the eclipse occurring at 10.25 a.m. This will be the second eclipse to take, place this month, the other being an eclipse of the sun, which occurred on September 12. Another partial eclipse of the sun occurring next month will complete the five eclipses of this year.
