PLAN OF FAMOUS THEATRE. Talkie grand operas produced by a famous opc/ia house for screening throughout the ■'world are a likelihood of the future under a scheme which has heeri P u t forward for consideration by the Italian Government. The plan provides for a selection of the most celebrated Italian operas to be "lined, with financial aid from the Govern--5?® Nt , under the supervision of the Scala -theatre, Milan. whose artistes and orchestra would figure in the productions. mong the works proposed to be reproduced in talkie form are operas by Ros■Mi (» William Tell"), Verdi (" Aida," ™6°letto." " J1 Trovatore "), Mascagni i..Ca y aileiia Rusticana "), and Puccini ' Boheme," " Madame Butterfly "). . These ,film-operas, which would be sung Italian, would be produced on the "borate lines of "Quo Vadis?" Cabiria," and other famous Italian film spectacles of the past. A unique ad£®tage pf the scheme is that Italian wlkies would be enabled thereby to foreign markets.
