SOUND FINANCIAL POSITION. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. There was » large attendance of members at the annual meeting of ithe Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association yesterday. The president, Mr. J. T. F. Mitchell, presided. The report and balance-sheet, a summary of which appeared in the Herald on Tuesday, were adopted. Mr. Mitchell said the finances were in a sound condition. Tho takings at the summer and winter shows had been disappointing, but a large reduction in expenditure had been brought about. Some comment had been made regarding the reduction in prizemoney, but the amounts paid in previous years certainly needed revision.

An offer of two cups for competition among bacon type Berkshire pigs was received from tho Okanagan Valley Experimental Farm, Canada. The offer was accepted, and it was decided to reply thanking the donors. Mr. Mitchell was re-elected president, and Messrs. S. Austin Can- and J. P. Kalaugher were appointed vice-presidents. The following 16 members were elected to the council Messrs. S. Hamlin, H. R. Mackenzie, A. 0. Trousdale, H. C. Grierson. S. R. Crookes, A. W. Perkins, W. W. Maesey, E. 11. Nolan, H. S. W. King, 0. Self. W. C. Knight, C. Hensen, C. 0. Brookes, P. H. Smith, J. Muir and R. Wright. An address dealing with farming methods was given by Mr. W. Alexander, formerly an officer of the Agriculture Department.
