Sept. 23. -At the Los Angeles lawn tennis tournament in the third round Stoefen (Los Angeles) defeated Allison, 6—2, 7—5; Gledhill defeated Wood, 6—3, 6—3; Perry (England) defeated Brashear (Los '•Angeles*), 6—4, B—6; Hughes (England) defeated Berkeley Bell, 6—3, 3—6, 6—2. j In the doubles Stoefen and Tidbull defeated Perry and Hughes, 3—6, 6—3, ' 7—5. SPEEDWAY CYCLING MATCH. / ENGLAND DEFEATS AUSTRALIA. (Received September 24. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Stpt. 24. England defeated Australia by 43 points to 46 in the fifth and final speedway test inatch. The Englishman, Parker, won four heats, the only rider to score the maximum points. Iluxley did best for Australia. 1
