THE FINAL GALLOPS.

historic works well. JALLDY KARO IN GOOD FORM. CROUPIER AND LADY QUEX. by archer. A stiff breeze, which was against the horses along the back and behind them in 10 etraight was blowing while training operations were in progress at Avondale yesterday, but otherwise the conditions wore Good, although the going was dead. All the fast work was performed on the outside of the course propor, where the treaties were out about 54ft and some nico gallops were recorded, the best being accomplished by Historic, who went soundly over six furlongs. With Granado (S. WilBon) to assist over the last half-mile. Historic (R. J. Mackie) went in good stylo over six furlonss, running the first two furlongs in 24 3-5s and the full distance in 1.19 2-5. It was a nice effort on the part of Historic, who is carrying a very bright appearance. Granado also moved well and is a very promising novice. The two-year-old Sastrugi (Broughton) was not extended while running five furlongs in 1.11 2-5 Sastrugi came through her race in the Debutant Stakes well and she promises to be one of the hardest to beat in the Avondale Stakes. Te Waipu (E. Manson). Foreign Money (light boy) and Emancipation (Chote) were on terms at the conclusion of a emartly-run three furlongs in 37 l-ss, a nice effort. They all worked well, but Te Waipu. who had the inside running, was going easiest at the finish. To Waipu is very forward and her track work suggests that she will show up prominently in the Avondale Stakes. King Colossus (Broughton) strode along at hi 3 ease for about a mile and ran the last seven furlongs in 1.33 3-5. The three-year-old looks improved for hi 3 race in the Wanganui Guinea® and should perform Bolidly in his engagements at the meeting. Hunting Day's Sprint. Hunting Day (Ludlow) reeled o5 four furlongs in 52 2-ss, moving freely all the way. He appears to have settled down a little, but is still a keen worker. Jalldj Karo (Wiggins) and Stonehenge (fair weight) ran their first two furlongs in 27 l-5s and completed six in 1.23 2-5. They were together at the finish, with Jalldy Karo going the better of the two. Jalldy Karo is in great heart and should run a solid race in the Champion Hack Piate. Lady Noreen, a maiden three-year-old bv Valkyrian, ran four furlongs in 54 8-sa, and Haulbowline was allotted an easy seveu furlongs. Haulbowline is a free worker and accomplished his task very satisfactorily. Grand Tea (Scott) and Tarcha (Ludlow), after running the first two in 26 l-ss, were well clear of Beverage at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.22 2-5. Grand Tea and Tarcha both went solidly. Tarcha's effort being very creditable for a hack. Beverage, who was very scratchy, showed no dash at all and until his soreness passes off he seems unlikely to show any form. Orapai and Glowlight were worked separately at a useful pace. Orapai is in first-class condition and Glowlight also looks very bright and healthy. Whakapara (Wiggins) and Maori Boy (Ludlow) kep' well together while sprinting three furlongs in 37 3-ss. Whakapara was revelling in his work at the finish and it should not be for lack of speed if he fails to race wei- in his spring engagements. Maori Boy is carrying a healthy appearance, but may be all the better for a race or two. Avondale Stakes Fillies. The Avondale Stakes candidates. Merry Way (Ludlow: and Broken -Rule (Keesing). sprinted four furlongs in 525. They were together at the end, with Merry Way travelling really well and Broken Rule, a lazy worker, being kicked ud to her work. These fillies may both run well to-morrow. Gibraltar (Ludlow) and Kozan (Wiffgins). after running the first two in 25 3-ss. finished up six furlongs in 1.22. Gibraltar was going very strongly at the finish and his gallop was a_ pleasing one for a hack. Kozan also did his work very satisfactorily. He is an unlikely runner to-morrow. Croupier (Wiggins) and Lady Quex (Ludlow) were sprinted five furlongs. The 'first two took 27 l-5s and they kept together until the last furlong, when Croupier came away to finish three lengths clear in 1.5 4-5. Croupier was kicked along in the last furlong and he came home strongly. Lady Quex was not bustled and was loafing at the end. She is in capital trim after her race at Wanganui last week. Little Doubt and Cessation. Little Doubt (Ludlow) and Cessation (Wiggins) covered a mile in 1.50 3-5. the last seven -furlongs taking 1.35. Little Doubt went-the more freely of the two. but Cessation was doing well when urged along at the finish. Cessation is in winning form and should make a bold showing in the Avondale Cup. . . . Holly Holm and Lady Whirlwind jumped off ahead of Prince of Orange and led him over four furlongs in 525. Holly Holm finishing just in front. On the inside grass Rulanut. Capo Gold and Lady Pam ran an easy four furlongs in 58 3-ss. -while Actaeon and Spear Lad covered six furlongs very comfortably in 125 4-5. Others to work usefully were Golden Wings. Mosque and Air Laddie. Hurdles were eroded on the outside ol the course proper after the fast work was completed, when Claremore and Landmark led Russet Moor in n bout over four fences. They all fenced well although Claremore and Landmark both took the first fonce very carefully. SYDNEY TRAINING NOTES. CYPRESS' LEG TROUBLE. (Received September 24, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. Sept. 23.
