THEFTS FROM EMPLOYER.
ROTORUA CLERK GUILTY. SUM OF £2OO INVOLVED. [from our own correspondent.] KOTORTTA, Thursday. Charged with a series of thefts from his employer extending over a period of nearly two years and involving an amount of approximately £2OO, Colin Spalding Walker, a Rotorua clerk, pleaded guilty on all counts. In a statement after his arrest, Walker admitted deliberately falsifying the accounts which were in his charge and appropriating a number of small amounts varying from 4s to £3. He said he had used the whole of the money for his own needs and that he had covered up the deficiencies by making incorrect entries in the books. The evidence showed that 141 small thefts were discovered, involving a total amount of £199 15s sd. The magistrate, Mr. S. L. Paterson, committed Walker to the Supreme Court at Auckland for sentence. Bail was fixed at £3OO.
