GIFT FROM SCOTLAND.
EARTHQUAKE FUND -BENEFITS SYMPATHY OF FREEMASONS. A further donation of £232 ha# been made by Freemasons in Scotland toward the Hawke's Bny earthquake relief funds. The money has been forwarded to Mr. John Hume, district grand secretary for the North Island of the Scottish Freemasons, and it will later be paid into the central relief fund in Wellington. Immediately after the earthquake Sir Charles Fergusson, former GovernorGeneral of New Zealand, suggested to tli9 Grand Lodge of Scotland that a token of practical sympathy should be sent to New Zealand. Accordingly the Grand Lodge cabled 50 guineas to the Dominion and later sent an additional £l5O, the result of art appeal made to the provincial grand lodges. The latest contribution consists of £lB2 from provincial grand lodges and £SO from Mr. A. A. Hagart Speirs, Grand Master Mason of Scotland. The total received from Scottish Freemasons to dat< is £434 10s.
