TOWN-PLANNING COSTS.
COMPENSATION FOR OWNERS. POWER TO BORROW SOUGHT. Legislation to give local authorities power to borrow by special order for compensation purposes under the Town Planning Act is to be sought by the Newmarket Borough Council, which at its meeting last evening instructed the clerk to prepare a draft clause for inclusion in a local legislation bill this session of Parliament. The acting-secretary of the Municipal Association reported that the matter had been considered by the executive corn-' mittee, which had brought it before the Government. A reply had been received from the Minister concerned, who, however. gave no indication of introducing the requested legislation.
