PALMERSTON MURDER.
MYSTERY STILL UNSOLVED.
'investigations continue.
[BT TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PALMERSTON NORTH. Wednesday. Twenty-eight days have now elapsed since the murder of Edwin John Blakeway at Karere, but there have been no developments, though many groundless rumours have been current. No date has been fixed for the inquest, and detectives are still pursuing their investigations. It is understood rigorous inquiries are being made practically throughout New Zealand for unregistered firearms. The body of Mr. Blakeway, a prominent amateur cyclist, aged 26, was found near his racing bicycle, on the LongbushKarere Road, five miles from Palmerston North, on the morning of August 24. He had been shot. Deceased was a booking clerk in the Palmerston North railway station.
