The engineer reported at the meeting of 1 the Pinko County Council yesterday that . he had investigated tho question of snpi plies of metal for use on the roads in the 1 Manawaru and Te Aroha ridings and for [ J parts of tho Waitoa, Waihou and Walton ! ; ridings. He was of the opinion that two | 5 streams which crossed the Gordon Road } contained immense quantities of stone ! ideal for road-building purposes. Ho ( suggested that the river metal be fed to the Gordon crusher by contract. I Figures were submitted which proved F that should the scheme be adopted by ' tho council, it would save 16 per cent, on tho present method in vogue. Tho scheme was approved, and it was | decided to invite tenders for 6000 yds. of > metal.
