GOLD WITHDRAWALS.
CAUSE OF THE DECISION. FOREIGN RESPONSIBILITY. British Wireless. RUGBY. Sept. 21. Referring to the decision regarding the gold standard the City editor of the Times points out that the withdrawals of gold from London were chiefly for tho purpose of supporting the position in foreign centres which have been feeling acutely the effects of the world crisis, flie responsibility for the temporary abandonment, of the gold standard belongs to those countries which have been hoarding gold on an unprecedented scale. This point is emphasised by most of the newspapers.
