ELLERSLIE TRAINING.

interesting gallops. manawhenua works soundly SMART FIVE BY LADY COURT. BY ARCHER. Conditions were excellent for training operations when the B atcs opened at Ellersl'o yesterday, but rain set in during tho bieakfast interval, and continued- until after work wns completed. All tho galloping was accomplished on tho No. 1 grass and somo smart times were recorded by ic eai y workers, who had the advantage of 1 (t V aCk " "*' le ra ' n c '' c ' 11 seriously affect the later, work, but it made tho track a trifle slower than earlier, with tho result that the later gallops wero nbt quite as fast as those before the interval. ii light boy in tho saddle. Gold Money ran an easy six furlongs in 1.25 4-5. Gold Money has not been extended lately and, although in good health, sho might e all the better for a few sharp gallops. Stimulant displayed more speed than W. Call's Te Monanui two-year-old in a threefurlongs sprint in 39 4-ss. Stimulant has not been required to go very far in his latest gallops, but ho seems to be thriving on the treatment and has been doing his i work solidly. Karangapai, after going round steadily irom the winning post, sprinted homo from the four-furlongs post in 525. He was runi n "is along very nicely at the end and has made very satisfactory progress since runes' a good raco at the Pakuranga Meeting last, month. Bonny Mumble (Clarke) dashed over four furlongs in 51 l-ss, and Ruling Ki'hg went j s oadily over six furlongs in 1.28 4-5. Rul- | ins vins is ift>w making some progress : (■ be is still backward and it will bo ! s , ( ?" 1e time before ho reaches racing condition. Restaurant's Good Six. Full mß . t ! ri \ at tl,e w»d. but thia was not, surprising, because he travelled fast io reach his companion in the early stages. Lady Court (Connor) was too good for Ait Gallery (Thomson) in the concluding stages of a five furlongs sprint, and beat her- comfortably in 1.4 2-5, a nice effort. I hey displayed plenty of speed over the first two furlongs in 255, but Lady Court, who is veijy well, was too solid for her novice companion in the straight. Brampton (Parsons) and Te Money (Wiggins) easily defeated Scotland Yard (Clarke) over six furlongs in 1.18 1-5, the first two furlongs taking 25 2-ss. Brampton and Te Money both worked well. Te Money having unproved quite a lot lately. Scotland Yard displayed some speed in the early stapes but loafed at the end, when he was not ridden out Loterie (McTavish) and Moonfieet (fair weight) ran their first two furlongs in 25 1-ss, and were still going well at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.5 1.5. These novices are both, on the upgrade and all on Id bo more solid this season than formerly. Tatyoon Improving. Patutahi (Olive) -?was allotted a working gallop over a round in 2.4 3-5, running the last half mile in 58s. This hurdler has accomplished plenty of useful work lately and, although be appears a trifle stiff at times, he moves freely enough onco he warms up Cat-i-mes (Wiggins) and Tatyoon (McTavish) were slightly better than Marchette, (Connor) over five furlong 3 in 1.6. Tatyoon is now beginning to make headway and pleased by" "the" manner in which he completed his gallop. He has lately shown some waywardness when going on to the tracks but goes kindly enough once he gels going. Gay Cockade (Parsons), with Sir Val (Murray) to bring him home the last halfmile. was first to work after the rain commenced, and lie went solidly over a round in 1.54 3-5. The last seven furlongs took 1.33 2-5, and the last haU-niile 53 4.55. and it was a very satisfactory effort, even though he had nothing in reserve at the finish. Great Emblem (L. Manson) and Canere (E. Manson) ran their first two furlongs in i 2fi 1-ss. and completed five in 1.7 1-5. Great Emblem was going very comfort aMy at the finish and appears to be much improved. Manawhenua (Chaplin), after being in behind in tho early stages. finished on strongly to beat Tetrarchnte (Parsons) and Catoma (Fergus) over six furlongs, in 1.18 2-5. They had a good move up and tho pace was right on from tho start, the first furlong taking 12s. and the first throo 383. It, was a nice pieco of work on the part of Manawhenua. and Tetrarchate also went solidly. Catoma did not go as well as usual, failing to run on at the end. but no notice need bo taken of this, as he was probably loafing in tho concluding stages after going fast early. Tarporley's Five Furlongs. Tarporley (Conquest) pleased much better than Ex eel la. Tea, (Murray) over five furlongs in I.G 1-5. Lack of racing experience may be against Tarporley when he makes his debut in the first division of the Maiden Plate at Avondale. but Ins latest tr.ack work indicates that he will run a very solid race. Speedfast, was timed to run the last four of six furlongs* ill r»4 3-5, and Pal reeled off half a mile in 53 1-55.. Taneriri (Chaplin) was given a working gallop over a round., which he covered m 0 j the last, four furlongs in 54 4-5s Taneriri went lazily, but lie rolled into his work in good style when shaken up a little Roy a1 6 Gal 1a nt and Wild Country . went very fast over the first three of six furlongs in 375. but they both tired at the end where Wild Country was clear o register 120 3-5 - Wild Country s effort was very satisfactory considering the early speed and Royal Gallant would have done better if thev had not gone so fast early. Piiriri Park (Ftfller) ran tho first halfmile in 52 l-5.< and was under restraint in th« straight to complete seven furlongs in 1 0.3 Puriri Pnrk moved with great freedom, and his effort was VGry '? lc " n 'f 0 Whirlalou"\(Dick), who was Kept up to her work at the finish, defeated Jewelled Oirdle (Fergus) and Air Lassie ( TO '. c . r ?\ over four furlongs in; 51 l-'s.
