LIMIT RIDER'S GOOD EFFORT. FINE RECORD OF FOUBISTER. Favoured by excellent racing conditions the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club's senior and junior events -were well patronised last Saturday. Both divisions raced over the same course of 18 miles, extending from Western Springs to Henderson and back, via Oratia and Glen Eden. A very rare effort for a limit rider was made by H. J. Starke, who, riding alone from tha nine-minutes' mark, maintained a steady pace to hold a comfortable lead throughout and win by the big margin of 46 seconds. E. W. Bates, 3m 30s, who was second, repeated his performance of the previous week. Starke's time of 59m 19s was good for an unpaced ride. Both the scratch juniors, H. V. Gordon and A. W. D. Eobinson, rode hard and lent interest to the event by finishing third and fourth Gordon again judged his sprint well to head off Eobinson and ( gain fastest time in 51m 7s. His time was 57 seconds outside the junior record. The senior race was won decisively by one of the back-markers, E. A. Cleaver, off 2m. Cleaver rode a great race and dominated affairs after the check at Henderson. In a fast finish between seven riders for second place, J. Leather, lm 15s, showed his sprinting powers to advantage by beating G.,J. Whitehouse, lm 15s, by a clear length. In finishing fifth and securing fastest time, in 49m 6s, E. G. Foubister, scr, rode with his usual brilliance to reduce the course record by as much as lm 9s. He has had a most successful season. He has started in 17 of the 22 races decided, gained fastest time in 14 and won three.
