EARLY MORNING FIRE.
KOHIMARAMA OUTBREAK. PORTION OF HOUSE DESTROYED. Fire destroyed six rooms in a large single-storeyed house on the Esplanade, Kohimarama, at an early hour yesterday morning. Mr. J. D. Kelly, the owner and occupier of the building, and his wife had been spending the evening away from home and on returning shortly before 2.30 a.m. they found the place in flames. The Tamaki Fire Brigade was quickly on the scene and was instrumental in preventing the spread of the flames to the remaining eight rooms. The six rooms destroyed comprised the whole of the original dwelling, the other rooms being additions made some time ago. The cause of the outbreak is not known. The house was insured for £2OOO with the South British Office and the furniture and contents for £6OO with the same company.
