WEATHER STOPS ATTEMPTS. ASPIRANTS LEAVE FRANCE. LONDON. Sept, 14. "The English Channel, has not beaten me," said Miss Lily Copplestone, of New Zealand, on her reiurn from Cape Grisnez. She will remain in Europe for the winter and will try to swim the Channel next year. The weather was impossible for the greater part of her stay at the Cape. She was three times ready to start, but the pilot boat twice failed to arr.ve and the third time a storm sprang up. Miss Copplestone is the last of 15 aspirants to abandon the attempt.
