MOTOR-BOAT RACERS.
ANOTHER MEETING POSSIBLE. WOOD AND DON WILLING. TORONTO, Sept. 13. In an interview at Hamilton, Ontario, Mr. Kave Don said he was willing to meet Commodore Gar Wood in a speed-boat race on the other side of the Atlantic at any time Mr. Wood might choose. A message from New "York says a tentative feeler from tho Sunday Chronicle, London, as to whether Mi. Wood is willing to meet Mr. Don on the other side evoked an emphatic leply in the affirmative from Mr. Wood. Gladly, he replied to the editor who sent the message. Mr. Wood told journalists that by making certain improvements to Miss America IX. he hoped to have the fastest boat in the world. Also he said lie was building a new boat. He reiterated his previous denials of any trickery on his part in the recent race for the Ilarrnsworth Trophy. "What I did say and what I meant was that I would lead the challenger over the starting line, but by 'lead' I did not mean 'entice,' " said Mr. W T ood. Miss Betty Carstairs, who on three occasions has been defeated by Mr. Wood, has issued a statement about the recent races, declaring: "Certainly under no pretext whatever can it be claimed that tho race was lost to England tlnough any unsportsmanlike act on Mr. Woods part."
