FANCY-DRESS BALL.
The second annual children's fancy dress ball, under the auspices of the Kakapuku School Committee, was held in the Kakapuku Hall on Friday evening and proved an unqualified success, both socially and financially. Over 40 children appeared in fancy costumes, which were holh beautiful and in many cases original. The judges, Mesdames 0. S. Clarke (Te Awariiutu), Wilkening (Pokuru) and Mr. R. 11. West.brook. bad a very difficult task, but their decisions found favour with all. Several very pleasing items •were given by the children and encores were demanded by an appreciative audier'oc - . r n The prize-winners were as lollops. Girls: Six years and under, the prettiest, costume, Betty Candy; most original, Helen Alexander; from six to ten years, prettiest. Peggv Alexander; most original, Isabel Ray. " Senior girls: Prettiest, Gracie Potts; most original, Myra Emery; special prizes, Agnes flay and Kve Riddell. Boys: Six years and under, prettiest, Murray Law; most original. Noel MeCreadv; senior boys, prettiest, Tommy Ray; most original, Waltar Gray; special prizes, Jack Crawford and Louis Clarke.
