MEAT EXPORT TRADE.

FIGURES FOR 11 MONTHS.; HEAVY SHIPMENTS OF LAMB. MUTTON ALSO SHOWS INCREASE. A review of the meat export figures for the 11 months, October 1, 1930. to August 31, 1931, shows that lamb met with such a good market that the previous season's exports were surpassed by more than 1,000,000 carcases, according to figures supplied by the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board. Exports of mutton also showed a largo increase in the same period. Beef and pork registered small declines in volume. Killings of beef were considerably lower than in the previous season, and there was a small decrease and a very large fall respectively in the number of wethers and ewes handled at killing works. The number of lambs killed was nearly 8,000,000, showing a large increase, and porkers were also higher. The following table shows the classes of stock killed for export in New Zealand between October 1, 1930, and August 31, 1931, and in the corresponding months of the previous season: — 1930-31. 1929-30.
