ROTORUA IMPROVEMENTS.
PROPOSED LOAN OF £IOOO. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ROTORUA, Monday. The necessity for spending more money for the completion of various works at present being carried out under No. 5 scheme was discussed by the Rotorua Borough Council at its last meeting. A proposal was made by the Works Committee to raise a loan of £IOOO to cover cost of supervision and material, but objection was raised to providing loan money i'or this purpose. At the same time it was realised that the estimates had been exceeded and more money would be necessary if works half-done were to be completed. Eventually it was decided to investigate the position and see if these works could not be completed from revenue and that a loan of £IOOO be raised for authorised relief work on Rangiuru Street and the lake front. The proposal is to cut down Rangiuru Street and use the spoil for the reclama tion of the "lake frontage.
