OBITUARY.

MR. THOMAS WAGSTAFF. The death occurred at a private hospital yesterday of Mr. Thomas Wagstaff, formerly •well-known as a bookseller in Queen Street, in his 76th year. Mr. Wagstaff came to New Zealand by the ship Hurunui, arriving at Lyttelton in 1879. For 30 years he conducted a bookselling and stationery business at Timaru, and 20 years ago retired from business and came to reside in Auckland. Shortly after arriving in Auckland Mr. Wagstaff re-entered business as a bookseller and stationer in Queen Street, next to the Union Bank, and retired finally eight years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle, his father, who came to New Zealand in 1885, being for many years a Baptist minister at East Oxford, Canterbury. Mr. Wagstaff was a Freemason, and a keen bowler, being at the time of his death a member of the Mount Eden Bowling Club. He is survived by Mrs. Wagstaff, two sons, Mr. Stanley Wagstaff, of New Plymouth, and Mr. Eric Wagstaff, of Auckland, and three daughters, Mrs. J. McKenzTe Wilson, and Misses Beatrice and Evelyn Wagstaff. Two sons, Arthur and Reginald, wore killed in the Great War. DR. T. C. ENDLETSBERGER. A member of the medical profession in Auckland, Dr. Theodore Carl Endletsberger, died in a private hospital yesterday after a short illness. Dr. Endletsberger was the son of a prominent lawyer in Vienna, where he was born. After completing his studies in Vienna and Wurzburg, Bavaria, he served for some time as medical officer at the German Embassy in St. Petersburg, now Leningrad and later he conducted a private hospital in Vienna. For more than 20 years he had resided in New Zealand, practising at Okoroiro and Rotorua prior to coming to Auckland about 18 years ago. At one time he had a private hospital in Mount Eden. Dr. Endletsborger is survived by his wife. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Remueraj this morning, the funeral afterwards leaving for Waikumeto Cemetery. MR. HAPE URU. The death occurred at the Christchurch Hospital last week of Mr. Hape Uru, of Tuahiwi, in his 62nd year. The late Mr. Uru was born and educated at Tuahiwi, and was one of three well-known Maori brothers, the others being the late Mr. J. H. W. Uru, M.P., and the late Mr. H. W. Uru, M.P. He was also a brother of the late Mrs. Totango. Mr. Uru was well known as a footballer in the early nineties. He was a member of the Maori team that toured the North Island in 1895. Ho was also a member of the South Island Maori team which played the North Island Maoris at Lancaster Park in 1896. In his younger days he was prominent in the sport of wrestling. The late Mr. Uru took a keen interest in native affairs, and at the time of his death was secretary of the Tuahiwi Runanga. MRS. R. H. HONEY. [from our own correspondent.] WAIUKU, Monday. A long association with the Waiuku district was ended on Saturday by the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Emily Honey, wife of Mr. Richard Henry Honey, of Kariotahi, Waiuku. Mrs. Honey, who was 71 years of age, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. Pucker, who came to New Zea(and 57 years ago' and settled at Waiuku. Her marriage to Mr. Honey took place 53 years ago at Waiuku. They took up land in the Kariotahi district and had continued to live there since. Mrs. Honey is survived by her husband, seven sons and one daughter. There are 24 grandchildren. MR. JOSEPH COX. [from our own correspondent.] HAMILTON, Monday. The death occurred to-day at the apje of 85 years of Mr. Joseph Cox, of Rostrevor Street, Hamilton. Deceased, who was born in Northampton, England, farmed near York until he left for New Zealand 19 years ago. Ho lived for a time in Blenheim and Palmerston North and for the past three years had lived in Hamilton. Ho leaves a family of one son and four daughters. There are 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchil-dren.
