ASSAULT AT MISSION.
LABOURER SENT TO GAOL. For assaulting Albert Wilson, manager of the Auckland City Mission night Bhelter, on September 12, Peter Fitzgerald, aged 32. labourer, was sentenced by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday to imprisonment for seven days. A plea of not guilty was entered by Mr. Noble on behalf of accused. In evidence the manager of the shelter said he had refused accused admission on Saturday evening because he was intoxicated. ■ Accused attempted to strike witness, one of whose fingers was hit. Accused, who said he had work to go to, maintained that he had been "blacklisted" by the manager.
